Minutes

Welcome Members
-
Approve last month’s minutes (January 22, 2024)
- Motion to Approve by Alicia Willoughby, seconded by Michelle Hales. Voting Unanimous.
-
Review MOY Math Assessment Data
- OSE Effectiveness of Instruction graph from Acadience (schoolwide data)
- Intervention is moving the needle for students needing strategic or intensive support schoolwide--we are seeing positive growth.
- Reviewed Pathways percentages versus benchmark percentages
- We are really digging into progress monitoring (mostly via computation tests), which helps us see student progress in smaller steps.
- Sixth grade saw so much progress last year that the other grades are adopting their methods of progress monitoring
- Overall, our MOY data is looking really good!
-
Discuss needs and goals for next year’s plan and draft new plan
- Things to be aware of:
- Funds come from lots of different places (block grant, Trust LANDS, TSSA)
- The state tells us to plan on $155 per student.
- Our enrollment is projected to go down next year, meaning our estimated budget will go down by around $2000K.
- We will also be spending more per aide.
- Ms. Miller has asked to be on the review committee to see all the 30 or so plans coming through the district.
- STEM and Project Lead the Way are included in the TSSA plans.
- Possibility to have our STEM person paid for by AmeriCorp’s Action STEM program, which would hopefully increase that person’s hours.
- Would also really like to bring an art component to our school. Pepsi said no, but we’re still working to find sponsorship. Trying to see if we can get Lomond View’s part time art teacher to go full time by adding her to our school.
- District has to do a new ELA curriculum because of a state bill passing, which would be implemented next year (no more Journeys program), meaing that the teachers will be using new programs and will need some time to find the holes and figure out how to supplement it.
- The state is setting the bar at 65% so we want to be above that.
- One possible place to decrease is Chromebook repairs (only spent $250, but if we have extra at the end of the year we can use that toward professional development, technology (software or hardware), or aide salaries.
- Goal is to spend this year’s money on this year’s kids, so we don’t want to have a lot of carryover.
- Drafting the new plan
- Working off last year’s plan and adding revisions to meet current needs
- Ms. Miller proposed a 68% growth goal (up from this year’s 65%).
- We also need to add “professional development” to the additional funds section.
- Things to be aware of:
-
Finalize 2023-2024 Trust LANDS plan
- Propose 68% Growth Goal for our Reading and Math plans.
- Motion to approve presented draft by Marinda Fowler, seconded by Michelle Hales.
- Voting is unanimous.
- Note: Draft is due on March 5th. Review is March 12th, then it goes to the state for approval. Members of the community council will digitally sign the finalized version of next year’s plan.
- Propose 68% Growth Goal for our Reading and Math plans.
