Orchard Springs Elementary Parent Teacher Organization

Dear OSE Families,

On behalf of the Orchard Springs Elementary PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization), we would like to welcome everyone back to school.  The Orchard Springs Elementary PTO is a volunteer organization made up of parent volunteers, teachers and staff who are dedicated to the successful education of our children. Our purpose is to aid the students and staff by providing support and funding for educational needs, help promote student self-esteem, enrich all students, encourage open communication between administration, teachers, and parents and boost Owl spirit.

We know that having our students at different schools can be challenging, but we are fortunate to have amazing teachers and staff supporting and teaching our students no matter where their classrooms are located.  As a PTO we weighed all of our options and talked extensively with Mrs. Williams about how we should proceed with our programs or events.  It was determined that the best plan was to wait until all of our students are in the same school.  While you might not see much from the PTO right now, please know that we are working hard behind the scenes to make this school year enjoyable and exciting for everyone.

Who can be a Member and Why should I join?

If you are a father, mother, guardian, and/or a teacher or staff member at OSE, we would like you to become a Member. Becoming a Member does not mean you automatically sign up to volunteer, it just means you support our students and school.  There is no fee to become a Member of the PTO and your Membership provides an additional avenue for getting information about what is going on at OSE. Although information will be available to everyone through our Facebook and Instagram pages, some of the information, such as meeting minutes, will only be available to PTO Members.   PTO Members will also be able, but certainly not required, to attend monthly PTO meetings.  Your Membership allows you to vote on how your money is spent and what activities or programs we sponsor.

We want the PTO to be an organization that you can have confidence in and know what is going on.  In order to make this happen we have decided that our monthly meetings will be open to all Members.  However, we are very limited on space at Silver Ridge so we are asking that only PTO Board Members attend the monthly meetings until we are able to move into the new school.  If you have a pressing concern that needs addressed before that time, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you at a meeting.  Once we are in the new school, we will resume inviting all PTO Members to our meetings.  They will be held on the second Monday of the month at 9:30 am.

Become a Volunteer…Why YOU should get involved!

We need your help and so do your children.  Independent studies on parent involvement show that when parents get involved in their children’s education grades go up, test scores improve, and they have fewer discipline problems.  We still have opportunities for you to get involved in the PTO.  Please look at the attached PTO membership form and let us know what events/activities interest you. Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment.  We understand it is increasingly more difficult to find time to give and we will help find something that will work with whatever your schedule allows. We have tasks that can be performed in the evenings or during the day.  Some don’t even involve coming to the school at all.

How can you stay informed about what is going on in the PTO and at Orchard Springs?

We are making an effort to go paperless this year.  Rather than send home fliers, we will send emails and post information on both Facebook (Orchard Springs PTO) and Instagram (@orchardspringsPTO).  Help us by following us on social media and returning the membership form (pdf).  Please send it back to school with your child or email it to us at to add your name to our distribution and membership list.
